Hi Robert,

sorry for starting a new thread at ***@suckless.org. Personally I give
up the hope that the gmane problem will ever be fixed. I had long
discussions during Jul-Sep and nothing really happened. The discussion
wasn't distributed to this list, but here is the last mail I send (see
below).

HTH,
Anselm

Well can we do something? Nearly 3 months passed since we raised this
issue and nothing happend.

In summary:

1. Stop archiving g.c.w-m.dwm and g.c.w-m.wmii (+ fixing the links to
original list archives, see below **)

2. Can we just set up archiving for ***@suckless.org (I can provide
the whole list archive of just that, I did in the past twice as you
will notice in this thread backlog) as g.c.misc.suckless please?

** the original list archive for g.c.w-m.dwm is
http://lists.suckless.org/dwm/ and http://lists.suckless.org/dev, the
original archive for g.c.w-m.wmii is http://lists.suckless.org/wmii/
and http://lists.suckless.org/dev/

Kind regards,
Anselm
Well, some people like reading old maillist archives via NNTP instead of
suckish web UI.
I don't mind if threading is broken unless threading of new messages
isn't broken.
It's much worse than the existing .wmii group is still the default for
Kind regards,

Lars wrote that threading would be broken in the new group because of new
(random?) message-IDs. If it's impossible to restore the threading
order (e.g., via a script generating proper new IDs), I think it's
reasonable to remain g.c.w-m.wmii as is, only changing description of
g.c.w-m.wmii and g.c.w-m.dwm (since it's impossible to rename them).
Are these messages that have previously been in other Gmane groups?  In
that case, threading won't happen correctly since all Message-IDs will
be renamed.
Wouldn't removing the g.c.w-m.wmii group be the solving of this problem?
No, it's a limitation in the inn news server.  It'll reject any
Message-IDs it's seen before, no matter what the group it's in.
- unsubscriben g.c.w-m.wmii adn g.c.w-m.dwm (if that isn't the case yet)
- establishing g.c.misc.suckless with the dev archive I provided (I
can provide a new/updated archive by request)
Kind regards,
Anselm
